Marriage and Divorce

In this book, Pastor Mbewe rightly began where anyone, in my view, who embarks on deliberating on the question of divorce and remarriage must begin—the understanding of marriage. This is where Jesus himself began in Mathew 19:1–12. The author’s counsel on the importance of beginning here before going to divorce and remarriage is on point. He says, “Most people pick up a book like this because they want to know about divorce. Thus, they are impatient with being taught about marriage. They feel that they know about that already. What they fail to realise is that failure to understand marriage from a biblical point of view is what causes them to also fail to understand divorce and remarriage.
